Next Club Meeting & Fall Fest is 10/4 | D2 Pathfinders in Action! is 10/5
Our Pathfinder Club exists to lead young people into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ while developing their physical, mental, social, and spiritual growth. Bullying of any kind is contrary to Christian values, the Pathfinder Pledge and Law, and the policies of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.
This policy sets clear expectations for behavior, outlines how bullying will be prevented, and describes how incidents will be addressed.
Bullying is intentional, repeated, harmful behavior—verbal, physical, social, or digital—where there is an imbalance of power.
Examples include but are not limited to:
Name-calling, insults, or mocking
Spreading rumors or gossip
Excluding or isolating others
Physical intimidation or harm
Cyberbullying through text, email, or social media
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31)
“Encourage one another and build each other up.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Ellen White reminds us: “Let not one word of censure escape your lips, for you are sowing seed that will spring up and bear fruit.” (Child Guidance, p. 497)
Pathfinders are called to kindness, respect, and Christian love in all interactions.
All staff and volunteers are screened and trained according to NAD Child Protection & Abuse Prevention policies.
Pathfinder leaders will regularly teach and model respect, teamwork, and conflict resolution in harmony with the Pathfinder Pledge & Law.
Parents will be informed of this policy at registration and encouraged to reinforce Christ-centered respect at home.
Club meetings, campouts, and digital communication spaces will be monitored by staff to discourage bullying behavior.
Immediate Action
Any leader who witnesses or is informed of bullying must intervene calmly, stop the behavior, and ensure the safety of all Pathfinders involved.
Documentation
A written incident report will be completed by the staff member, including names, dates, description, and action taken.
Notification
Parents/guardians of all children involved will be notified.
The Club Director (or Interim Director) will inform the Area Coordinator or Conference Youth Ministries Director if required by NAD policy.
Investigation & Resolution
Club leadership will investigate promptly and fairly.
Restorative practices (apologies, mediated discussions, making amends) will be emphasized when possible.
Disciplinary action may include: verbal warning, loss of privileges, suspension from activities, or dismissal from the club in severe/repeated cases.
Support
Both the victim and the child engaging in bullying will be offered guidance and pastoral support, recognizing that both need help to grow in Christlike character.
Staff & Volunteers: Enforce this policy, model Christlike behavior, and report all incidents.
Parents/Guardians: Support the club by addressing concerns at home and cooperating in resolution.
Pathfinders: Commit to the Pathfinder Pledge & Law, treating all with respect and standing up for those being mistreated.
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Pathfinder leadership team.
It will be included in parent/student handbooks and distributed at club registration.
Staff will receive annual refresh training on child protection and anti-bullying procedures.
